Moving forward in a purposeful way

Inspired by activism through contemporary fiber work and textile artists alike, this collection presents commentary on the current racial injustice– vocalizing the national black frustration through my eyes as a designer. Simultaneously protesting the lack of environmental action and over consumption mindset that as a society, we can't seem to escape from (2020-2021).
This 4 look collection is all about an important message surrounding the impact of representation and empowerment shown through the work of embellishment & embroidery. All plastic is recycled from various used packages that were gifted or came from my own ordering. I took issue with how much waste and unnecessary plastic I had going in & out of my house daily. I decided to reinforce my disappointment... in a strapless patchwork dress.
However, I was greatly moved reflecting on how badly I needed to express what I was feeling during the year 2020. Embroidering during a time when I felt so many emotions was unbelievably timely and allowed me to be direct.
